I'm reaching out the the organizers of the SM Rubashkin event Wednesday evening in general, and Rabbi Lipschutz in particular; kindly have an American flag in the proximity of the podium and say a kapitel Tehillim for the USA.
When the YouTube video goes viral, the world will see we are grateful Americans that have a gripe with a particular sentencing verdict and not with this great country. And yes, that should be explicitly said in your opening remarks.
Can you believe this Rabbi Jonathan Rosenblatt who heads the Riverdale Vaad? He is an officer of the NY Board of Rabbis which is ossur gomur according to everyone including Rav J.B. Soloveitchik whose granddaughter he married. How does YU let him get away with this and allow him to give hashgocho to the businesses serving them in Washington Heights?
It's even more surprising since Rosenblatt is an eidim by Twersky. Although the shver was a Dokter Rabbiner and groiser Filosof, his brother in law Twersky leads the right wing faction in YU & is known to even scream at Rabbi Yosef Blau when he veers to much to the Left
Chicago has been suffering from many terrible tragedies for quite a while now. Terminal illness, accidents, fires, etc.
Someone just told us a very interesting story and we'd like to know if anyone heard of this. Apparently in the early 1900's a Rav from Eretz Yisroel visited Chicago and was upset with the community at the lack of respect he received here. He then put a curse on the city. While this sounds superficial and Baal Gaavadik, although we don't really know the whole story, it is apparently true as we did ask a well respected Rav just this morning. He unfortunately does not remember the name of the Rav involved in this story. We are asking because maybe there's a chance to reverse this curse by having people daven at his kever. So if anyone out there has heard of this and knows the name of the Rav, we would appreciate it if you could tell us. This is not for Lashon Hara - but it is to help our city!
If anyone was wondering why Queens Vaad president Yoel Schonfeld has a tendency to say things that are a direct quote from the Notzri "New Testament" as has been pointed out, this may explain it as he is rabbi of Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills:
a high profile effort is currently underway in the New York area by Chosen People Ministries, the oldest Messianic Jewish Christian organization in the country. The campaign includes billboards, posters, and advertisements, including full pages in The New York Times, about chapter 53 in the Book of Isaiah. It is the brainchild of Dr. Mitch Glaser, president of Chosen People Ministries.
Glaser had his bar mitzvah at the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills, he said, though his family kept neither Shabbos nor kashrus. While working in California after high school, Glaser said he discovered Jesus.
Today, Glaser claims to follow Jewish custom and practice.
"We've created a very Jewish life," he maintained. "We are shomer Shabbos and my home is, I would say, traif-less. It's not necessarily kosher. We celebrate the holidays and yet Yeshuah is at the center of it."
Glaser refers to Jesus as Yeshuah in conversation and maintains there is no inherent conflict between being a practicing Jew and believing in Jesus. According to Ruth Guggenheim of the Baltimore branch of Jews for Judaism, a Jewish anti-missionary organization, this makes organizations like Chosen People Ministries all the more dangerous.
"They're not your Bubbie's missionary," Guggenheim explained.
The Queens Vaad continues to allow food from Rabbi Dr. Bukspan even though no reliable hashgocho does so. The Queens Vaad does this because the Great Neck Iranians want their ethnic food items that only Bukspan provides and if they don't get them, they will turn to another joke hashgocho that does allow Bukspan, thus causing the Queens Vaad to lose lot$ of revenue in Great Neck.
Here is a Los Angeles restaurant under Bukspan in a press release they gave out this morning that seems to be targeted to Jews:
Dear chicago I don't know the story but I would venture to say it had to do with the Ridbaz and kashrus in the meat industry. I am a little familiar with the kashrus in chicago and when it comes to erlichkite there is only one person who is trusted hands down in that city when it comes to kashrus by meat.
Some say there was a sort of klala put on St. Louis by Rav Feivelson who is now rosh yeshiva in Monsey. A bunch of nasty baal habatim always gave tzoris to the yeshiva and Rav Feivelson finally had enough, leaving in 1970 and calling the city an Ir Hanidachas. The city was never matzliach as a Torah community since then despite attempts by others. It is also a magnet for black sheep of prominent mishpochos.

It would be better if someone spoofed all the frum looking fressers who don't ask any questions about kashrus.

Let's agree on this one for Heaven's sake!

Habayit Restaurant's providing Christmas & New Year Kosher catering offers to enjoy your holidays with all your friends & family.
Not sure what the big deal is. Many businesses have holiday parties but want to make them kosher.

They should have said holidays or Xmas.
