People are getting courage after R' Yudel stood up to Dagim.

R' Yankel Reisman put up a sign in his shul on Agudah stationary that most canned salmon & frozen flounder - "including Dagim" - have forbidden worms.

Do you find scale insects on American grown citrus peels too?

No extra charge for the "protein" said...

RCC says thyme, curley parsley, curly leaf spinach and soft parts of onions are too infested to check.

Bruised or blemished blueberries need to be checked for bugs.

Nori seaweed sheets even with the best hashgocho need to be spotchecked from time to time for mites, mini seahorses & water scorpions.

"The RCC has spent 100s of hours researching & developing methods for growing bug free salad products right here in Southern California. We currently supervise California Kosher Farms insect-free vegetables. This farm uses special netting from Israel, as well as meticulous Gush Katif style methods to ensure the produce remains insect free. These extraordinary methods of growing bug free produce involve significantly higher costs. The RCC & its employees do not have any business interest or financial gain from the sale of produce from the farm. We are proud that we are able to provide the community with superior Kashrus along with high quality & healthy produce. The RCC would like to acknowledge Rabbi Yossi Eisen of the Vaad of the Five Towns & Rabbi Tzvi Heber of the COR of Toronto for their assistance in gathering information for this guide."

(They recommend Fresh Express which Rabbi Eisen says is the most infested)

They say stay away from all edible flowers except for purple orchids because they are the only ones that you can see and peel off the thrips. Do you agree?

I don't understand many other things they say like that any untrained schmo can check figs even though they admit they are infested with worms & miniature wasps.

They admit oyster mushrooms are too infested to eat but say shitake don't even need to be checked.

They are not concerned at all about bugs hiding under strawberry seeds!

They say white asparagus needs no checking!

I spoke to the Eidah more then once and they say the vacuum packed beans, rice etc need to be checked but not as carefully as not pre checked.I have found infestation in whole wheat grains and in chickpeas. These items are checked by weight assuming that a bean with a worm or without dont weigh the same but scales do make mistakes.
