Maran HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita had some very harsh words regarding sheitels, stating the women who wear them are as if they go outdoor bareheaded.

Before you attack Rabbi Goldberg let's ascertain some facts. The caterer Morrell's website says that of their three main locations, only one of them is under the Flatbush Vaad. The other two are under a Reform rabbi from Suffolk County named Steven Moss. For this reason, I don't think Morrell can be charged with fraud unless it can be proven he said he is providing a Conservative standard because Reform officially allow chazir. Cablevision's News 12 said that treif was in all three locations but Newsday is disputing that. Newsday says Rabbi Goldberg did not have anything treif brought into his kitchen, although the paper claims that the kosher & treif was being transported in the same vans (a la Kedassia in England).
There is a Jem Caterers based in Valley Stream that is under Gissinger-Abecasis aka Chof K. I am trying to figure out if they are a division of Morrell. The two caterers names were the plaintiff in a very interesting lawsuit. Morrell said he was interviewing potential clients that had a simcha coming up. A former client who had a monetary dispute with Morrell stormed into the meeting and called Morrell a "shyster". Morrell sued for defamation and for losing the potential business. Er vos hot em geruft "shyster" argued that a "foreign word" does not have a din slander. The judge disagreed.
That Morrell's main location is Temple Israel in Lawrence is going to take on a life of it's own. It happens that Morrell has been in court with the temple which is on the verge of insolvency. The temple board is actually trying to manufacture a bogus conspiracy theory that the frum majority in the 5 Towns is conspiring to shut them down. The real story is that all the members kids either stop coming to shul or marry goyim. The hasgocha fee that the customer pays for Supervision at a catered event which is always a seprate line item on the contract. I spoke with someone yesterday who was crying to me that she booked Morrell at Woodbury for a chassanah in June. The Hashgocha fee was $1500. Does tha mashgiach get it ? NO !! the mashgiach is lucky to get $200. That means the kashrus agency nets $1200 for 1 day. NISHT SHLECHT!! BTW that person is already looking for another caterer($20,000 deposit lost. Do the math a local hashgocha with 40 stores @$500 a pop nets $240,000 I am in the wrong business

Try not to laugh at this report from the Washington Post. Scott Morrell held a press conference in front of the State Supreme Courthouse in Mineola. The manager and chef showed up with their lawyer and it turned into a big circus with all kinds of shouting and theatrics. The Flatbush Vaad mashgiach Abraham Alper started fressing Morrell's chicken fingers and offered them to dozens of reporters. Reporters are usually the biggest shnorrers who will grab any free food they can get but not a single reporter accepted the chicken fingers according to the NY Times.

The Morrell story is NOT the same as Kedassia. Kedassia was raw meat that can be washed. Morrell was cooked ready to eat food under Flatbush Vaad sitting next to the cooked pork & shrimp dishes.
Morrell says in a press release that Alper is Flatbush Vaad's mashgiach but that might be incorrect. He might be the mashgiach for other parts of the temple in Woodbury. If so, Rabbi Goldberg should force Morrell to issue a correction. And if Alper is a JTS rabbi working for Goldberg, I hope that the kashrus muckrakers don't let him get away with this.
One of the most traumatizing things I ever saw was after being in a Pesach hotel (KAJ hashgocho) for over a week and no one could even look at food anymore, the most zaftig lady in the whole place of over 1000 guests was mowing through the tea room eating all kinds of high calorie & fat goodies like there was no tomorrow.
It also happens every year at the hotels that the ambulances are taking away guests to the ER because the fressers wanted to make sure they were getting their money's worth and ate too much.

Gabe Boxer's shutef in the catering where all kinds of vendors were not paid is Mitch Froehlich, a YU guy who is now also the Woodmere Fire Commissioner. It's really disgusting that they even ripped off Goldmark because Froehlich davens with the Goldmark mishpacha at Young Israel of Woodmere.
Froehlich is the owner of another company, Paradise Kosher Caterers that makes Pesach at Arizona hotels. I'm not 100% sure if he was the owner that particular year but Pesach guests have been screaming on another kosher food blog that the caterer at that hotel is a big liar who tells anyone what they want to hear. That if you are yeshivish, the caterer tells you there is no mixed swimming but you get a big surprise upon arriving. It is also alleged that that year under OK hashgocho had too few mashgichim, the goyim were eating bread in the hotel, there were not enough kiddush cups to go around for the Seder and they ran out of food.
Young Israel of Woodmere is the place led by Rabbi Hershel Billet who has an unusual set of priorities. He was the target of criticism by 5 Towns rabbonim a few months ago for bringing a galach to give the Shabbos morning derasha in the beis haknesses. And Billet is the same rabbi at the OU who went beserk because an RCA rabbi criticized Rubashkin's lawbreaking in public. Ask any RCA rabbi you know about how Billet was ranting and raving against the Rubashkin critic on the internal RCA intranet system and sounded like he was angry enough to strangle his fellow rabbi.

Hershel Billet made an announcement in the Jewish Star newspaper not to eat from Morrell until the whole story is sorted out but that if you call Rabbi Goldberg and he tells you he is now taking extra precautions then it is ok.
What weird is that Billet's announcement said that Flatbush Vaad is also in Temple Israel of Lawrence. Does that mean that they are sometimes kashering from the Reform rabbi or is the information on Morrell's website incorrect? Does anyone remember Negev takeout on Ave J? They were probably the Flatbush Vaad's longest running account at 45 years. Then, Rabbi Goldberg and the second hashgocho, Rav Mendelson from Boro Park, threw out Negev because of serious kashrus violations like purposely allowing goyim to broil livers without any supervision. The owner George Gross was said to be bezunder arrogant and did not heed numerous warnings in many areas of kashrus violations. Gross immediately got Babad 20th Ave (who doesn't give a darn what happened) to put his sign in the window and lied to customers about the lead up to the hashgocho change. Babad later had major repercussions from this which is story by itself.
When the truth about Negev started to spread, Gross abruptly closed the storefront and became a caterer working out of the upstairs office. Gross claimed to be under a choice of Queens Vaad or 5 Towns Vaad which Rabbi Goldberg suspects he was probably just repackaging Mauzone's food and making illegitimate hashgocho claims.
Gross, a former RJJ boy who is the other bum at Young Israel of Woodmere, is now the owner of Kleen Farms / Kleen Green, a Bodek competitor under OU and Hisachdus. He claims to have a process that gets leaf miners out of romaine stalks and thrips out of strawberries. There has been a push to get this brand into stores which seemingly could not happen without vouching & a push from Hershel Billet.

One of his buddies wrote a letter to the 5 Times Jewish Times (Nov.24,2011) to counter-attack Lakewood, probably because most of the yeshivishe rabbonim in Woodmere and Hewlett are Lakewood talmidim. Miller monns the newspaper that they owe Hershel Billet an apology for mentioning criticism of him by yeshivishe rabbonim when they did not allow modern orthodox criticism of Lakewood being a bunch of batlonim without parnossa being that Rav Matisyahu Salamon visited the 5 Towns the same Shabbos as the galich.
I think the rule is if someone is hiding which hashgocho they have it's probably because it's questionable.
Have you noticed that half the Pesach hotels, despite the fortune they spent on newspaper ads & flashy websites, do not tell you whose hashgocho they are under? When you call some of these clown caterers they even try to give the runaround when asked a direct question. After you pin them to the wall, they throw out the name of some no name rabbi not involved in any other hashgocho work who G-d knows what his standards are.
One of the "best" lines I ever heard from a caterer on the defensive was "it's good enough for the 5 Towns 'yeshivish' crowd". This included not having shmurah matzah except for the sedorim. The rav hamachshir for that caterer was grada not no name - he was Zushe Blech - who seems to be increasingly pushing the envelope as the years go by with different companies and products that are raising eyebrows.

There are places thrown out by Rabbi Goldberg where he sounds cloudy as to what the violations were. But when it came to George Gross, he was very forceful, clear and concise about what some of the violations were.

Now the Nassau County DA has announced that it has been criminally investing Morrell since September for kashrus fraud which is a Class E felony in NY State, based on an independent party planner who blew the whistle.
Court papers allege that while the Flatbush Vaad mashgiach may not have been fooled with treif actual food in the Woodbury & Lawrence kitchens, they were taking kelim back & forth to use for treif.
There is also a blogger alleging that Rabbi Goldberg has been receiving complaints for months that the caterer is mechalel Shabbos to prepare the food but did nothing about it.

The catering business on top of the former Negev storefront on Ave J had that on a website or maybe something published at the time that consumers have a choice of Queens Vaad or 5 Towns Vaad supervision. I don't remember exactly which type of medium it was printed. When people mentioned it to Rabbi Goldberg he surmised that George is probably just repackaging from Mauzone without any right to make hashgocho claims for himself. Before you attack Rabbi Goldberg let's ascertain some facts. The caterer Morrell's website says that of their three main locations, only one of them is under the Flatbush Vaad. The other two are under a Reform rabbi from Suffolk County named Steven Moss. For this reason, I don't think Morrell can be charged with fraud unless it can be proven he said he is providing a Conservative standard because Reform officially allow chazir. Cablevision's News 12 said that treif was in all three locations but Newsday is disputing that. Newsday says Rabbi Goldberg did not have anything treif brought into his kitchen, although the paper claims that the kosher & treif was being transported in the same vans (a la Kedassia in England).
There is a Jem Caterers based in Valley Stream that is under Gissinger-Abecasis aka Chof K. I am trying to figure out if they are a division of Morrell. The two caterers names were the plaintiff in a very interesting lawsuit. Morrell said he was interviewing potential clients that had a simcha coming up. A former client who had a monetary dispute with Morrell stormed into the meeting and called Morrell a "shyster". Morrell sued for defamation and for losing the potential business. Er vos hot em geruft "shyster" argued that a "foreign word" does not have a din slander. The judge disagreed.
That Morrell's main location is Temple Israel in Lawrence is going to take on a life of it's own. It happens that Morrell has been in court with the temple which is on the verge of insolvency. The temple board is actually trying to manufacture a bogus conspiracy theory that the frum majority in the 5 Towns is conspiring to shut them down. The real story is that all the members kids either stop coming to shul or marry goyim. Yes Rav Yudel, that may very well be a direct poel yotze from Star K as I have heard they had Morrell's glatt kitchen before Flatbush Vaad.
It will probably emerge soon if Morrell's management has ulterior motives. Morrell's lawyer is already hinting they are a front for Morrell enemies, something to do with a bad investment. Morrell did one day sue his long time attorney, accusing him of scamming his family with a bad investment. Morrell is almost always in court. The question is, is there anyone he did business with that did not end up in litigation with him.

Kashrus is big business.if the average restuarant L'mashal pays $500 a month for hashgochah ( in Flatbush double that due to the need of dual hashgocha) do the math. Thats BIG $$$$. Add to that fee the cost of a mashgiach temidi if required or a mashgiach just to come by and check vegetables( who says that person is really qualified?). The hasgocha fee that the customer pays for Supervision at a catered event which is always a seprate line item on the contract.
I spoke with someone yesterday who was crying to me that she booked Morrell at Woodbury for a chassanah in June. The Hashgocha fee was $1500. Does tha mashgiach get it ? NO !! the mashgiach is lucky to get $200. That means the kashrus agency nets $1200 for 1 day. NISHT SHLECHT!! BTW that person is already looking for another caterer($20,000 deposit lost.
Do the math a local hashgocha with 40 stores @$500 a pop nets $240,000 I am in the wrong business

Try not to laugh at this report from the Washington Post. Scott Morrell held a press conference in front of the State Supreme Courthouse in Mineola. The manager and chef showed up with their lawyer and it turned into a big circus with all kinds of shouting and theatrics. The Flatbush Vaad mashgiach Abraham Alper started fressing Morrell's chicken fingers and offered them to dozens of reporters. Reporters are usually the biggest shnorrers who will grab any free food they can get but not a single reporter accepted the chicken fingers according to the NY Times.

Morrell's lawyer claims that Howard Fensterman, a lawyer from Lake Success (on Great Neck's southern border) who works in a building next to OU Past President Steve Savitsky, is a mini-Madoff who was behind a $19 million investment fraud and is setting up Morrell to frame him for treif.

The Morrell story is NOT the same as Kedassia. Kedassia was raw meat that can be washed. Morrell was cooked ready to eat food under Flatbush Vaad sitting next to the cooked pork & shrimp dishes.
Morrell says in a press release that Alper is Flatbush Vaad's mashgiach but that might be incorrect. He might be the mashgiach for other parts of the temple in Woodbury. If so, Rabbi Goldberg should force Morrell to issue a correction. And if Alper is a JTS rabbi working for Goldberg, I hope that the kashrus muckrakers don't let him get away with this.
One of the most traumatizing things I ever saw was after being in a Pesach hotel (KAJ hashgocho) for over a week and no one could even look at food anymore, the most zaftig lady in the whole place of over 1000 guests was mowing through the tea room eating all kinds of high calorie & fat goodies like there was no tomorrow.
It also happens every year at the hotels that the ambulances are taking away guests to the ER because the fressers wanted to make sure they were getting their money's worth and ate too much.

Gabe Boxer's shutef in the catering where all kinds of vendors were not paid is Mitch Froehlich, a YU guy who is now also the Woodmere Fire Commissioner. It's really disgusting that they even ripped off Goldmark because Froehlich davens with the Goldmark mishpacha at Young Israel of Woodmere.
Froehlich is the owner of another company, Paradise Kosher Caterers that makes Pesach at Arizona hotels. I'm not 100% sure if he was the owner that particular year but Pesach guests have been screaming on another kosher food blog that the caterer at that hotel is a big liar who tells anyone what they want to hear. That if you are yeshivish, the caterer tells you there is no mixed swimming but you get a big surprise upon arriving. It is also alleged that that year under OK hashgocho had too few mashgichim, the goyim were eating bread in the hotel, there were not enough kiddush cups to go around for the Seder and they ran out of food.
Young Israel of Woodmere is the place led by Rabbi Hershel Billet who has an unusual set of priorities. He was the target of criticism by 5 Towns rabbonim a few months ago for bringing a galach to give the Shabbos morning derasha in the beis haknesses. And Billet is the same rabbi at the OU who went beserk because an RCA rabbi criticized Rubashkin's lawbreaking in public. Ask any RCA rabbi you know about how Billet was ranting and raving against the Rubashkin critic on the internal RCA intranet system and sounded like he was angry enough to strangle his fellow rabbi.

Does anyone remember Negev takeout on Ave J? They were probably the Flatbush Vaad's longest running account at 45 years. Then, Rabbi Goldberg and the second hashgocho, Rav Mendelson from Boro Park, threw out Negev because of serious kashrus violations like purposely allowing goyim to broil livers without any supervision. The owner George Gross was said to be bezunder arrogant and did not heed numerous warnings in many areas of kashrus violations. Gross immediately got Babad 20th Ave (who doesn't give a darn what happened) to put his sign in the window and lied to customers about the lead up to the hashgocho change. Babad later had major repercussions from this which is story by itself.
When the truth about Negev started to spread, Gross abruptly closed the storefront and became a caterer working out of the upstairs office. Gross claimed to be under a choice of Queens Vaad or 5 Towns Vaad which Rabbi Goldberg suspects he was probably just repackaging Mauzone's food and making illegitimate hashgocho claims.
Gross, a former RJJ boy who is the other bum at Young Israel of Woodmere, is now the owner of Kleen Farms / Kleen Green, a Bodek competitor under OU and Hisachdus. He claims to have a process that gets leaf miners out of romaine stalks and thrips out of strawberries. There has been a push to get this brand into stores which seemingly could not happen without vouching & a push from Hershel Billet.

When Hershel Billet came under attack for letting a Catholic priest give the Shabbos derasha in his Young Israel. One of his buddies wrote a letter to the 5 Times Jewish Times (Nov.24,2011) to counter-attack Lakewood, probably because most of the yeshivishe rabbonim in Woodmere and Hewlett are Lakewood talmidim. Have you noticed that half the Pesach hotels, despite the fortune they spent on newspaper ads & flashy websites, do not tell you whose hashgocho they are under? When you call some of these clown caterers they even try to give the runaround when asked a direct question. After you pin them to the wall, they throw out the name of some no name rabbi not involved in any other hashgocho work who G-d knows what his standards are.
One of the "best" lines I ever heard from a caterer on the defensive was "it's good enough for the 5 Towns 'yeshivish' crowd". This included not having shmurah matzah except for the sedorim. The rav hamachshir for that caterer was grada not no name - he was Zushe Blech - who seems to be increasingly pushing the envelope as the years go by with different companies and products that are raising eyebrows.
If I were Bodek, I would be furious that Hisachdus is giving on a direct competitor like George Gross who claims to be more bug-free than any other brand.

Hershel Billet is looking real "smart" right now. He decided to backtrack from the ad he placed in the Jewish Star by sending out an email that he backs the Flatbush Vaad 100%.
Now the Nassau County DA has announced that it has been criminally investing Morrell since September for kashrus fraud which is a Class E felony in NY State, based on an independent party planner who blew the whistle.
Court papers allege that while the Flatbush Vaad mashgiach may not have been fooled with treif actual food in the Woodbury & Lawrence kitchens, they were taking kelim back & forth to use for treif.
There is also a blogger alleging that Rabbi Goldberg has been receiving complaints for months that the caterer is mechalel Shabbos to prepare the food but did nothing about it.
