20 years ago because the dropouts were coming to BMG at 3 am to steal mail, the FBI came down & spoke to Schenky. He told them he would take care of it. BMG stopped allowing bochurim to receive credit cards and otherwise started searching suspicious looking mail. Meanwhile the dropouts had used stolen credit cards to order huge amounts of merchandise. There were also Cheder brats at the time stealing nosh on Shabbos from the fridges in the main BMG dorm.
Then 15 years ago, a bochur from Lakewood who was learning in Chaim Berlin was prowling around the Irvington when he was home for Shabbos & stealing from the dorm rooms everything from credit cards to electric shavers. One Irv victim found out his credit card was used at Pathmark in Boro Park. Pathmark said they could not provide a copy of the checkout videotape without a letter from a police officer. Schenky provided a letter. They immediately recognized the punk as the son of alter kollelnick. They gained access to the Chaim Berlin dorm at 3 am. They entered his room and turned on the lights. He was very uncooperative but vastly outnumbered. They forced him to get dressed and drove him to a spot in Lakewood where he confessed he had hidden all the loot.
There is a drug addict, long not frum, who learned in BMG 40 years ago. He was coming back about every 5 to 7 years to steal in the dorm. As a former yeshiva mann he knew the schedule when it was opportune to clean the whole place out in one shot. As cover, he stole suits by each exit to the car. He actually looked like a baal habos coming altz shaatnez. He came once during selichos of erev Rosh Hashana. One time when he was caught by the son of someone on the hanhala who recognized him, he made an escape and tried to run over the bochur with his car on the way out of the parking lot. The oylam had taynos on the Lakewood PD because when they put the perp in a lineup, they did too good of a job with the lookalikes with moustaches and he was not picked out.
