Is your schools food acceptably kosher for "U" ??

Many or most yeshiva / Bais Yaakov kitchens operate without a mashgiach or for that matter not a single responsible yid working in the kitchen.

Who is knowledgable in product purchasing at the Moisid? No one per se.
Is that acceptable to you? check it out, you may be surprised. In Israel the Rabanut is requiring in yeshivas, bais yaakovs, etc a full time knowledgable mashgiach.

There is a girl's school where there are some problems. The menahel was moyde to someone but was too scared to do something about it. He recommended some parents get together and make one of those kavod gadol presentations to address it. The problem is that the administrator who decides how much tuition you pay also doubles as the caterer. Good luck trying to find enough parents who care enough about kashrus and who are paying full tuition so that they are not scared of this guy who is grada very tough in allowing tuition breaks.

Rabbi Mendy Slomowitz's yeshiva also fell in to this scandal? Shocking.

A Mashgiach Who Cares said...

This is an old problem, which I fought with my yeshiva as a bachur.

The administrators yell "Eid Echad Ne'eman Be'Issurim", but the problem is that there is sometimes not a single kosher "Eid Echad" who can attest that the food is kosher.

The student/parent body needs to put pressure on the moisad to make sure that there is a person with "ne'emanus" who is responsible for verifying the kashrus.

Better yet is to go to the big donors and tell them about it. Many times it takes a little "convincing" from the guy with the $$$ in order to get anything done.

to the credit of yeshiva torah vodaas, in addition to a shomer shabbos chef, years ago the hanhala hired a yungerman from the kollel to be mashgiach in the kitchen.
