Get your non-kosher "TREIF" vegetables in Boro Park, etc with the Yoka & or Rapport Rav hashgochas.
Call the Non-Kosher "exclusive" distributors J & R and Braun Brothers.
[Footnote: It's alledged that some Satmar moisdois in Willy & some stores also allow the J&R, Braun Brothers, Dole infested vegetables, etc. If anyone has more info, please let us know at kashrusy@aol.com] למיחש מיבעי

You mean Yisroel Rapoport who is the Chabad shaliach in the old Yekkishe bastion of Vineland, NJ. You always see his sticker on J&R when the infestation levels are high forcing KAJ & Rav Gruber to decline those batches. Rapoport has also certified concession food at some Chol Hamoed special outings.
Aruch Hashulchan Y"D 81:34 beshaim the Pri Chodosh:
Parents who allow their children to eat maacholos assuros with the excuse that it is technically mutter, will see them go letarbus ra. Even if they do not go off the derech in gantzen, they will be mechutzofim. This is not just for maacholos that assur midOraysah but even if only assur midRabonnon.

The Rapport Rov has a good rapport with making money from bugs when KAJ takes a step back.
Howcome you say "all" BP rabbonim are allowing it? they don't! it's a shame thta many BP stores carry it with no shame, but it's not with the haskoma or authorization of rabbonim, in fact there was a kol koreh against "Fresh Express" infested veggies, signed by lot of BP rabbonim a few years ago.
p.s. in Williamsburg those brands are nowhere to be found.
Is anyone going to Kosherfest? It would be a kiddush Hashem to go there and have a frank and honest discussion on Kashrus in front of the oilem.
Here is an email sent by the Queens Vaad:
“July 20, 2012 1 Av, 5772
MEMO TO: All Establishments
FROM: Rabbi Chaim Schwartz
RE: Tisha B’av Schedule
We hope this letter finds you well.
As Tisha B’av falls out on Saturday night, no establishment may open at all.
On Sunday, July 29th,on Tisha B’av itself, NO ESTABLISHMENT (supermarkets, bakeries, caterers, candy shops, restaurants, take-out) may not open until 1:00pm. At that time, restaurants may only serve customers take-out style. All chairs must be placed on the tables.
Restaurants may re-open for regular business on Monday, July, 30th.
Additionally, as meat is prohibited to eat for all or part (depending on custom) of the “Nine Days,” a Pareve menu MUST be available in ALL restaurants. Pareve means that any part of the dish may not be cooked at all in/with a meat utensil. (emphasis ours)
As always, I am available to discuss these regulations with you and to address any questions or concerns you may have.”
??????????
Are hashgochos usually more machmir than halacha to not allow fleishig kelim and to stop restaurants from opening on Motzei Tisha B'Av nidche?

I heard from a halachically knowledgeable local Rabbi that VHQ is actually extra meikel in some instances when it should maybe follow consensus (such as a few years ago with respect to suppliers of chametz post-Pesach). But this email is hilarious on all the levels you note, and is even stranger considering that the OU, which is generally the gold standard for kashrus in the US, allows its restaurants to serve meat dishes during the nine days as long as there is a non-meat option (check out the Prime Grill etc. 9 days menus). I fear that too much politics and maybe no single major halachic decisor controlling at the top lead to this type of email.
While they're at it, shouldn't the wine stores be closed except for erev shabbos (starting at 1pm to be safe)?

As a former Queens resident, It appeared that the Vaad was often capricious and problematic. It didn't suffice if restaurants bought products that were under approved hashgachas, they also had to be purchased from Vaad approved distributors. Those approved distributors were reported to be far more expensive than many others. Additionally, the Vaad was alleged to demand a percentage of profit from approved merchants along with a monthly flat rate fee. Many of us referred to them as the "Vaad HaG'novim of Queens"
Avrohom Avinu ran to make sure the kashrus was lemehadrin even for who he thought were Arabs. Vayikach chemah vecholov himself. But there is a certain Vaad hakashrus in the NYC boros that MISREPRESENTS bad kashrus & kashrus violations as "MEHADRIN". Avrohom Avinu was also a tremendous baal chesed who welcomed people with all kinds of viewpoints into his ohel. He wasn't like the Off Mertropolitan Mafia that does HATCHET JOBS on anyone who speaks uncomfortable truths.
"We hope this letter finds you well"
I get chills when I see a letter that starts with those words. The only people I know in gesheft who start a letter with those words are the biggest backstabbers.
Did the backwash problem with spinach ever get fixed?
Anon 3:42
Aruch hashulchan says no such thing. Read it again, he's only talking about things that are technically ossur.
Halvai in today's dor we would all be nizhar on the things that are technically ossur.
You took down your mazal tov to R' malkiel? You got into another fight?

More friends of Seth Mandel? This shochet Yadidya Greenberg, the rav hamachshir of Colorado Kosher Meat, also hangs out at Hazon. R' Yisroel Landsman & Rabbi Belsky gave Greenberg kabbalah in shechita & make him sound like he's on the A list. If you believe Hamodia, Rav Landsman is the biggest mumche around on shechita. Besides Hazon, Greenberg is part of the Bat Ayin hippie scene. The Bat Ayin hippies who are hippie versions of a hybrid Lubavitch-Breslov, have a shul in Boulder, Colorado. Greenberg is on the shul board. The hippyish Rabbi Gavriel Goldfeder is the rov of the shul & endorses Greenberg's shechita. Hazon says Goldfeder is also rav hamachshir of the shechita. The "Spiritual Leader" (Emeritus) of the Boulder shul is a LADY named "Morah" Yehudis Fishman.
We realize that We were wrong the whole time, but Rabbi B & F Esq doesn't let us say the truth. We know Hashem will punish us for this, as Rabbi B told us what he went through because of his violation of the Torahs commands. But the yetzer horah forces us to continue with the lies.
The negligent parents say technically mutter because the children are ketanim. And the Aruch Hashulchan does say even on things that ARE technically mutter like maynekes Mitzris.
OU Eyepopper....R'Yisroel Landsman passed away a few months ago..He was an Ish Tzadik..
Is Rabbi Shain driven to a strict position on infested food by the shitos that insects that lose limbs are still considered berya because the limbs will regenerate or they are otherwise viable creatures that can continue to live with missing limbs?
"Kranke Reformed Halacha guide"
1. Restaurants should be open for meat meals right after Tisha B'av eventhough there is a explicit Halacha that Meat (as opposed to haircuts) is NOT allowed even when its a nidche.
2. Eventhough the Vaad says that a parve menu must be available they REALLY mean ONLY a parve menu may be served.
3. Eventhough fish may be cooked in clean meat utensils, yet some hashgachas do NOT allow this, and require separate fish utensils, because they know that in a commercial setting meat utensils are not always clean enough.
KRH guide says that this is not OK and requires the same utensils be used.
4. Rule #3 applies to the nine days prohibition of cooking parve in meat utensils as well.
5. If you follow all of the above you are at or above Avrohom Avinu's level.
Rav Shain, Why is it that the there is a saying in the food industry "you can dump anything in the 5 towns, even with completely unreliable hashgochas if any".
Is something there that we don't realize besides money & wanna-bees?
Why would any Lakewood Bochur want a shiduch from there? it can only spell trouble in marriage.
Thank you Queens Vaad (executive) representative for answering some of the Tisha B'Av items - with what are for a change - reasonable explanations. We do not support criticism of the Queens Vaad where it is unwarranted and the piling on over any & all the Tisha B'Av items is coming from bloggers who do not show respect for ANY poskim. The one who seems to have started the pile on is in fact a Conservative rabbi in Queens who sometimes misrepresents himself as orthodox. *****
You are still unclear however why VHQ would not allow restaurants to open motzaei Tisha B'Av that was a nidche. The email is mashma that sit down is a no-no even for pareve.
**** This Conservative rabbi is fort a case of "the chickens coming home to roost." He is friends with a non-frum caterer under VHQ who gets away without having mashgiach temidi while the Queens Vaad turns a blind eye. The caterer sometimes spends Shabbos with his friend in his temple that does not have a mechitzah.
That is a factually incorrect & an unfair attack on the 5 Towns when speaking in a general sense.
The is a certain crowd in the 5 Towns that attend shuls like Beth Shalom. In practice these people are not orthodox even if they identify themselves as orthodox. Almost anything goes with this crowd. Mixed swimming, eating treif outside the house. They are completely open about these things. They don't even try to hide it.
The Queens Vaad validates a certain non-frum caterer as not requiring mashgiach temidi in part with the argument that he used to be part of that crowd.
Sons of Israel in the 5 Towns is very similar to Beth Shalom. One of the only differences is that Beth Shalom identifies itself as "Orthodox" while Sons of Israel calls itself Conservative or Traditional.
The Queens Vaad holds both of these places in high esteem. The Conservative rabbi Bruce Ginsberg from Sons of Israel has sat on committees with Queens Vaad rabbis.
Hold it! 5 Towns has a Black Hat yeshivish Rav with eye glasses of a professor Duckter as their kashrus honcho. How could you say that in the 5 towns anything goes?
Perhaps you know the facts & i'm just speculatin'?
But if the word in the industry is 5 towns you can dump anything, i'd stay away from doing any shiduchim from there, it's hard enough without those problems.
As the Steipler said "it's a makeh sheh'ain luh refuah" & don't do the shiduch.
"Why would any Lakewood Bochur want a shiduch from there?"
Sounds like the guy who keeps bashing R' Dovid Weinberger.
Look, you had a bad experience but there are plenty of bnei Torah in the 5 Towns and yes they are nizhar in kashrus. Part of the 5 Towns is even on the Far Rockaway side of Highway 878. You cannot tell the difference between them & the Far Rockaway people, at least as far as the wealthy part of Far Rockaway around Cedarhill where the houses are more expensive than Lawrence houses.
R' Yudel, there has to be some kind of standard which posts to allow through. Now you have an idyot attacking R' Yosef Eisen becuase of his choice of eyeglasses. That's like saying chalila that there was something wrong with the Alter fun Slabodka because he wore similar glasses.
As a Queens family, we shmecked around the 5 Towns establishments & find that it's all talk and bluff, so we decided to stay away. Do you have an issue with that? But thos glasses are real cute.
The 5 Towns modern shul rabbis keep Rav Eisen on a leash, not allowing him to be more machmir than the OU.
(The Queens Vaad - in practice - is not even up to OU standard, despite all the lies they utter when they are caught red handed implementing less than OU standard.)
Because the 5 Towns yeshivishe crowd wants better than OU standard, Rav Yaakov Reisman gives a secondary hashgocho on some 5 Towns restaurants & caterers. Although it is not always effective because he is unpaid and does not check enough to catch some dishonest businesses who cheat while cashing in on frum appeal, it does help for the businesses that are honest with him.
That supposed Queens family must have immediately been attracted to the restrooms when "shmecking" around.
The Steipler said what exactly is a makka with no refuah?
it was very good that r' eisen replaced chait at 5 towns vaad. chait was not as strict. and a bunch of modern & weird people daven by chait or used to be in his yeshiva. i know some of these people & they don't give a hoot about kashrus
It's true Rabbi Eisens hands are tied up by the muderneh oilum & their so called Rabonim.
He tried doing big Reisman upgrades & got clobbered very bad, so in total-he's afraid & he has to protect his parnosah.
I live here & I know.
Beth Shalom is not the only place. Young Israel Hewlett is very anti-frum. The shul president Charlie Miller wrote a vicious letter last year printed by 5 Towns Jewish Times attacking Lakewood kollel "parasites" & the Mashgiach Rav Salomon. These Young Israel types think Rav Eisen is too machmir & really insult him badly on modern blogs. Then there is another place that is stam cute. There was someone in Boro Park who got in a fight with the Debriciner Rov. He left Debricin to open up his own shul with no rov. His son opened a shul in the 5 Towns that continues the tradition of having no rov. This crowd is either ex-yeshivaleit who are not yeshivish anymore to put it diplomatically or Conservative types that don't wear a yarmulka except on Shabbos.
Rav Eisen, Shlita did a lot more for kashrus while at the OU, at least as far as the consumer is concerned.
If they tie his hands at 5 Towns, it may be time to change.
A mispalel.
In sum, it's an outrage that the modern have such major input in a Vaad that supposedly represents bnai Torah as well. The bnai Torah should pull out when all the modern bahaymos are ramming their kulos down our throats. Who needs Kenny Hain from Beth Shalom with his dumb bowtie, sam hamovess Charlie Miller from Hewlett and Yehuda Septimus from Young Israel North Woodmere, the big lover of women rabbis. At least Hershel Billet from Young Israel Woodmere has a little PR when he is not having a Catholic priest give the Shabbos morning drosho in the shul.
quoted from another blog It didn't suffice if restaurants bought products that were under approved hashgachas, they also had to be purchased from Vaad approved distributors.
Those approved distributors were reported to be far more expensive than many others ... Many of us referred to them as the "Vaad HaG'novim of " - Some Queens restaurant owners complain about this slimy practice to their customers. I can just see it now, the next version of VHQ contract will probably threaten anyone who spills the beans about this shakedown. ("money screams"?)
Please stop attacking the VHQ & the 5 Towns Vaad, they are what they are.
The 5 Towns vaad is even spreading out to North Jersey & Connecticut as consultants. Parnusah is oich eppes., Is that good for the kosher minded consumer or not so good? Time will tell.
There is a huge difference between 5 Towns Vaad and Queens Vaad.
5 Towns Vaad has modern rabbis who should indeed be censured for bossing around Rabbi Eisen and preventing him from running a better hashgocho. But Rabbi Eisen tells you the truth about what standards are in place.
Queens Vaad are stam a bunch of shvantzes who tell the public they are MEHADRIN standard and have a yeshivishe acting figurehead who goes along with this scam to mislead the public from knowing about the actual sad state of affairs. And if you dare try shining some sunlight on the truth, they will come after you like the mafia.
From all the Satmar hashgochos out there, are any of them affiliated with the tiny faction that revolves around the Rebbitzen of R' Yoelish? (They do not recognize Zalmi, Aron or even R' Moishe of Zenta)
Star K is the exclusive now at the country club in Inwood. Some local rabbonim know the score and will not eat there unless there is a private mashgiach to watch the watchers.
Is Hisachdus still giving on Kleen Farms owned by George Gross?
Rav Shain, you don't keep up with the latest. You should only know the "ma'hapaicha" Rav Eisen is doing in the 5 Towns re: Pre-checked vegetables.
He's not doing it just to give business to kleen farms, he thinks your concerns are very valid, but he doesn't like "how" you say it.
I know you aren't a chazan, but you should sing the right tunes (sometimes).
George Gross is trying to deflect any questions raised about Kleen Farms by accusing his old adversaries at the Flatbush Vaad of being behind it.
