Certifying agencies by being paid per pound ?

LA Certifying agencies by being paid per pound for allowing that brand in their certified establishments and distributors. Are they certifiers or partners?

That may be the answer to many of the questions raised in the latest LA Doheny scandal.

That Doheny was always playing around with non-glatt would never fly on the East Coast.

The RCC is supposed to keep at least up to OU standards, are they not?

Rabbi Feivy Mendlowitz who is on the ground in LA, had this to say:

I am not familiar with the details of the Doheny story... but I can tell you with absolute certainty that the RCC is not to be trusted on any matter. While there are a few individual members that are trustworthy people, that organization, for the most part is corrupt at it's core!

Rechnitz's purchase had to be influenced by Belsky in conjunction with the RCC's determination to control their ever dwindling respect as a legitimate, meaningful organization! Belsky is a gangster and Avrohom Union is a disgruntled high school teacher who was rejected for every single rabbinic position he ever sought except for the RCC. Nobody wants anything to do with him.

Rechnitz was ill-advised to get involved in this corrupt meat packing industry!

One of the RCC rabbis married into a modenna family, but still a family that has a lot of clout. The RCC rabbi's shvogger was in my yeshiva. Every year there were genaivos in the dormitory. The hanhala knew the shvogger was the one stealing the cash of other bochurim but felt powerless to throw him out. They would also go through a yearly charade that was a huge annoyance whereby they gave lie detector tests to half the bochurim to ask if they are stealing. They would administer the last test to the shvogger. All this nonsense just so the modenna family would not complain that their little ganav was singled out.

"The lingo is the same"

Even more so for the mashgiach who constantly blogs on the OU's time clock!

I don't watch television chas veshulem but someone showed us a transcript of the "Law & Order" program that your Conservative cantor cousin wrote for NBC. The character who has the exact same name as you & your Zeidie is doing some pretty disgusting things in the script. You should convene an emergency meeting of the gantze mishpooche to demand a stop to this boosha vecherpa! No need to travel anywhere as he is a cantor at a temple right in Queens!

Is West Side Kosher also selling non-glatt that you are so defensive?

finding late arbit at Bnai Yosef was often spotty, leaving hundreds of nighttime Sephardic worshippers without a Sephardic minyan.

Ashkenazic synagogues like Kahal Veretzky (Rabbi Landau’s shul) have no problem filling minyanim throughout the night, making these shuls a seemingly attractive option for Sephardic congregants who are wary about not finding enough people for a nighttime minyan at a Sephardic kinees (synagogue) like, Bnai Yosef.

All that changed last spring when Bnai Yosef teamed with Subsational to create the innovative “Bnai Yosef Arbit Guarantee.”

Although the number of nighttime Sephardic worshippers in Flatbush was always limited, it was in fact large enough to establish a regular late-arbit schedule – a fact empirically proven by counting familiar Sephardic faces at Rabbi Landau’s shul each night. The challenge was getting a critical mass of these Sephardic congregants – some of whom had already experienced the inconvenience of waiting a long time for a late arbit minyan at Bnai Yosef – to give it another try. That’s where the “guarantee” part of the unique Bnai Yosef program proved so critical. The concept was simple: eliminate the risk that a late arbit worshipper would leave Bnai Yosef empty-handed by guaranteeing a minyan or providing compensation if there were not enough people to form one. Specifically, the promotion stated that if a minyan was not formed within 10 minutes of the appointed prayer time, those present for arbit would receive a $10 gift certificate to Subsational on the spot.

from Canadian Jewish News:

Kosher consumers in Toronto will have plenty of chicken, despite the impending closure on May 3 of Chai Kosher Poultry, one of the city’s largest suppliers, industry insiders say.

Moishe Friedman, president of Marvid Poultry in Montreal, said he supplies many kosher retailers in Toronto and has the ability to increase his company’s capacity to 200,000 chickens a week if necessary.

“Consumers will have as many chickens as they need. There will be no shortage or price increase,” he said.

Marvid Poultry carries hechshers from the Montreal Jewish Community Council (MK), the Toronto-based Kashruth Council of Canada (COR) and the U.S.-based Orthodox Union (OU).

Chai representatives refused to comment about the company’s closing after news about it had spread on social media over the weekend.

But industry sources said it had received an offer to buy the land where its plant is located, in the Port Lands area south of the Gardiner Expressway and near the eastern waterfront.

Richard Rabkin, director of marketing and business development for the Kashruth Council, which supervises Chai under the council’s COR hechsher, said he values the Kashruth Council’s longstanding relationship with Chai and regrets its closing.

He stressed, however, that Toronto will have a plentiful supply of kosher chicken.

“We are also looking into some alternative sources. Our main objective is for [kosher consumers] to have access [to what they need],” he said. (Source: CJN)

that is a chutzpah which is meant to exclude gerim of any kind

The gedolim say that the Syrians should be mevatel that takona they made not to accept any gerim. Just because some lowlife Sefardim were running after blonde shiksas does not mean the Syrian kehillah has a right to be so cold to all gerei tzedek, women or men.

Rechnitz told LAJJ that money might not have been the motive for Engelman's alleged actions, and "speculated that it may have been due to anger Engelman felt towards his main supplier, Agri Star."

In 2009, Agri Star bought the Postville plant from the bankrupt Rubashkin-owned firm AgriProcessors, which had been shut down in the aftermath of the largest immigration raid in American history.
