Alert: Numerous canned cherries, fresh cherries were found to be infested.
Please educate me. If a fruit or vegetable is eaten whole must one assume that it has a maggot and check? How intensive of a search must one make?
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance!

ReplyDeleteDifferent countries have different infestation levels depending on temperature & other factors.
ReplyDeleteRabbi vayeh, the ou, etc say USA cherries don't need checking
ReplyDeleteWe asked several rabbonim in Monsey and Lakewood who are in kashrus. They said cherries from the USA do not need to be checked. Maybe canned cherries are from elsewhere. Read the label.
ReplyDeleteRabbi Vayeh's opinion is not useful today thus, it don't count.
ReplyDeleteDuh.

ReplyDeleteSholom K might be busy trying to formulate a response to Feivy & Archie.
Some might be surprised that Feivy is on the side of the yeshivishe velt in the RNK fiasco.
Who cares what Paulie says or on who's side he is?
ReplyDeleteApparently enough people besides 3:21 pm
ReplyDeleteSo for years R Yudel had complaints on the heimish hashgochos that they would never do a recall, and now we see they do.
ReplyDeleteThe heimish don't do a recall, that's correct.
ReplyDeleteThis episode is 3 weeks old, so they waited till it's all sold, then the heimish let the OU put out a notice in a hidden place.
Gefen & Volover, put out many notices by their infested popcorn-WOW!
kcl had an under the table deal for 3 weeks with gefen/volover not to publicize the infested cherries till it's sold out.
ReplyDeleteThe Lakewood oilum is very proud of the corruption of the kcl for that.
