The presence of anisakid larvae, which live as parasites in muscular tissues and the viscera, has been traced in many species of fish and cephalopods.
The affected fish are cod, hake, horse mackerel, sardines, anchovies, salmon, herring, tuna, whiting, turbot, halibut and pollack), while the affected cephalopods are squid and cuttlefish.
Is flounder ok?
ReplyDeleteThey are ground up anyway.
ReplyDeleteMost Flounder does have the anisakis worm.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you get your information from? No one ever said before that tuna has the worms
ReplyDeleteIt’s Hock Fish not Hake Fish.
ReplyDeleteOut of hundreds of flounder sub-species, only 3 types do not have worms. There are a couple of hashgochos who make sure to source the safe types. One of these types lives on the south shore of Long Island so it is possible to catch it on the boats who take people in the water with rented fishing poles. But you have to make sure which one you caught because the wormy ones also live there. You must bring your own knife & board if you want the boat company to clean your catch for you (no extra charge) because they avaddeh use their own with catfish, etc
