Many may not be aware that couches and pillows can be shatnez. The photos included illustrate several custom-made couches and pillows made from wool and linen. Sitting on a plush shatnez couch that one sinks into violates ובגד כלאים שעטנז לא יעלה עליך. Even if the couch is very firm, it's still prohibited, though מדרבנן. If there is a concern that a couch or pillow, whether while visiting or on vacation, might be shatnez, it should not be sat on. Furthermore, it may be prohibited to have a couch or pillow containing shatnez in one's home, much like having a shatnez curtain is not allowed.
