RETURN CARDS IN INVITATIONS? Why not? [just because the Girls side picks the hall, the Boys side has every right to have a say in the choice of reliable hall!]

Public Notice:

In recent months, a growing number of Lakewood ba’alei simcha have stopped enclosing RSVP response cards with their invitations.

When asked about this, their explanation is straightforward: "How can we send out return cards asking people to attend a meal when we aren't comfortable with the caterer's kashrus or standard?"

To resolve this dilemma, they are ordering the bare minimum requirement. Those guests who choose on their own to eat the catering will find food available, while the ba'alei simcha avoid actively endorsing or sponsoring it.

We anticipate more families will adopt this approach—תבוא עליהם ברכה!

  1. If one is uncomfortable with the caterers standards, they should not be making a Simcha in that hall. If they do make a Simcha in such a location, they are hypocrites.

  2. If someone doesn't trust the kashrut of their own caterer, they should cook their own food. Or not have a simcha. Do like the couple in Russia who never had children because there was no mikva (or body of water?) except DON'T EVEN GET MARRIED. Feh.

  3. Why do Chassidishe not enclose reply cards?

  4. chasidim?, When you pick yourself up to get a drink, a chosid sits down and finishes your portion, so they don't send return cards.

  5. It’s like inviting guest to your home and serving pork and telling them you don’t have to eat.
If that’s OK, as it seems from this brilliant post, I’ll cater super takana weddings in Lakewood at a fraction of the current cheapest hall.
Can wait to make some kosher money…

This post is a new translation of the words שטות והבל.
Why not put a return card in the invitation, and tell the printers that this does not constitute an endorsement?
