Rav Shmuel Wosner, OB"M re: infestation "whom to ask"

Many newspapers, magazines, etc publish recipes with a misguided disclaimer;

"Many ingredients are prone to infestation. Please ask a local Rav for guidance re: infestation".

According to Rav Shmuel Wosner, the Local Rav is not the one to ask re: infestation or any area of kashrus, you must ask only an expert in infestation or kashrus.

Rav Shmuel Wosner, זצוק"ל stated on more than occasion that the  רמ"א ש"ע יו"ד סימן ס"ד סעיף ז " וסדר ניקור אלו החלבים צריך ראיה מן הבקי בניקור , ואי אפשר לבאר היטב בספר"

Rav Wosner said this halachah is for every area in kashrus, one is to ask the "expert in that area" not the Ruv.

Rav Wosner said that the Ruv is to sit in the Bais Medrash and obtain from the "mumcha / expert" the facts, and דער רב איז נישט דער מומחה, דער רב קען געבען דער פסק לוט דאר מציאות וואס דער מומחה שטעלט אראפ .

The ר"ן among others state that the opinion of the מומחה outweighs all others, no matter how many disagree with him.

  5. The magazine is sating there may be (are) infestation issue. Go to your Rov and he'll advise you what to do. A Rov will tell you who the real mumchim are (ie Horav HaGoon Rev Yudel Shlit'a).

    The is no real Rov who will pasken on something that he knows nothing about. However, he will direct you to the right people.

    The real question here is why is Yudel not reading what it says instead of read into honest comment????

    Maybe Zev Oster is getting a siman about whether it's proper to market blueberries to the heimishe oylam when they are triple infested with maggots, thrips & scales.

  8. I bought once the honey type that is meyuched to bees pollinating blueberry bushes like by Oster in Monsey. You would think it would taste geshmak like the one influenced by orange blossoms, but it was grada so geferlich tasting we couldn't even eat it!

  10. Why don't you post your phone number and have everyone call you ?

    You would be following Reb Wosner's Psak which it seems you know so well.

    Should the answer be posted now or do we all understand the situation of this blog?

    When these people looked into Haribo they found that there is a halal beef production in Turkey for Muslims but the regular runs in Oesterreich are from chazir.

    As far as the supposed kosher run from Westheim-Paskesz, talk about grey market that there could be a switcheroo all the way from Turkey!
