And then there's a Vilna Gaon in Even Shloima that applies. Hergel naaseh tevah meint that whatever someone spends a lot of time on becomes all he can think about. A masmid thinks Torah & the hepech is yener mashgiach who instead of doing his job assigned by the hashgocho, he's busy thinking up ways to criticize & give immature digs to R' Yudel - while picking his Schnozz. And someone busy betedirus picking his Schnozz is always thinking in terms of "picking" something or other!
