Shatnez Notice!

Shatnez suit sold at Toms River event ­ Dear Friend,   It's essential to exercise caution and test for shatnez your wool garments and linen garments. Polyester suits should also be tested, as shatnez has been found in them too. Failure to do so can result in your wearing of shatnez! A Ricercato brand woolen men's suit sold during the recent Igud Bnei Torah sale in Toms River, New Jersey, was found to be shatnez.

The image above shows a linen-blend taper reinforcement, as used in the Ricercato-Igud Bnei Torah woolen suit.  Rabbi Yosef Sayagh, a shatnez tester from Lakewood and a leading expert in the field, notes that other tested Ricercato suits were shatnez-free, featuring non-shatnez taper reinforcements. This illustrates the inconsistency in suit manufacturing; a shatnez-free suit doesn't guarantee that another similar suit will be the same. Rabbi Sayagh also mentioned that shatnez generally occurs in multiple suits within a batch, rather than in just one suit.
