Many are very concerned about the current status of ניקור in the USA. May we accept in the broad sense, the מנהגי ניקור that was being utilized in certain specific areas of Europe as the standard for everyone in the USA? There are the מנהגי ארץ ישראל which was set up by Reb Yeshuah Leib among others. מנהגי פוילען אשכנז, ספרד וכדומה were some of the accepted minhagim for the majority of those currently residing in the USA.

A new study confirms what many experts already suspected: Most imported "extra-virgin" olive oils are not what they claim to be. In a first-of-its-kind study by a U.S. academic institution, a University of California, Davis, research team found that 69 percent of the imported oils sampled failed to meet internationally accepted standards for extra-virgin olive oil. By comparison, only 10 percent of the California-produced oils in the test failed to meet the standards.

SPAIN - A new method enables anisakids to be detected in any fish product, from a whole fish, fresh or frozen, to tinned fish and surimi. Developed by Spanish scientists, the system is based on molecular techniques and overcomes the limitations of traditional procedures, according to a study published in the magazine 'Food Control'.

This fall, companies who sell sub-standard olive oil to the U.S. won't be able to slip in under the radar as easily anymore. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has received complaints about olive oil that is labeled as "100% extra virgin" -- but is really diluted with other kinds of oil.

NO MEAT TO BE SOLD UNLESS MINUKAR & SALTED

SKS-Kosher grape juice from China? MATZAV published it as if one may rely on the kashrus- a shandah!

Even though Matzav.Com made a big splash about the upcoming unaccetab;e grape juice from a kashrus vantage point.
Our research concluded that one should not rely on the SKS hashgocha at all, especially from China. Last we checked the Israeli Rabanut does not accept SKS for import to Israel.
