A&B's FISH STICKS false claim- We use only HAKE which is not an infested fish

The presence of anisakid larvae, which live as parasites in muscular tissues and the viscera, has been traced in many species of fish and cephalopods.

The affected fish are cod, hake, horse mackerel, sardines, anchovies, salmon, herring, tuna, whiting, turbot, halibut and pollack), while the affected cephalopods are squid and cuttlefish.

The "Broiler" chicken that we use in Birdsboro and Kiryas Joel & Pelleh are the Cobb 500.

Alert! Israeli produce in the market- Tithing required

During the last week or so, the market in New York/New Jersey has seen the arrival of colored
peppers from Israel. One should separate terumah and Maaser and Maaser Sheini in the approved manner. This year is the 5th year of the Shemita cycle and is therefore a year of Maaser Shaini, not Maaser Ani.
Our observations show that most red and orange (and sometime yellow) ORGANIC peppers at this time of the year are from Eretz Yisrael, but one should look for the sticker. Green peppers are seldom from Eretz Yisrael. If past years are anything to go by regular colored peppers from Israel will come in a couple of weeks.

Fairway has organic peppers from Israel at this time, but not regular non-organic. Israeli peppers have also been seen at Trader Joe, Shoprite and West Side Markets.

Needless to say, professional mashgichim in food service situations should check the cases of produce coming into commissaries.

In retail stores, there are sometimes mixtures in the same bin, and a sheila should be asked if someone has purchased peppers of these types and does not see a label, that would create a multiplicity of  Sfaikos and should be brought to a competent halachic authority.

Alert! Hydroponic vegies, do have infestation issues, mites, etc.

Alert! Many are of the mistaken opinion that Hydroponically grown vegetables do  not have any issues with infestation. Bodek among other are selling un-certified as kosher just because they are hydroponically grown.

May a marketing agency publicize and profit from "treif" businesses?

One may not do "mischar" (business) with treifus.  Kosherica cruises has been machshil thousands in not providing 100% kosher according to any standards.

That practice is "ossur" and must end.
 You can't say "I didn't know".
