J & R and R & S (brown bros.) PRODUCE- distributer are machshil harabim

J & R Distributors, and R & S (brown bros.) distribute prechecked vegetables. When certifiers have their mashgiach check the produce in the warehouse and find it infested, they do not allow their yellow stickers to be affixed.

J&R and R7S (Brown Bros.) takes the infested produced and affixes other kosher certifiers stickers (usually green). J&R and R&S knowlingly knows that he is putting on kosher certification on infested produce.

Therefore "al pi halacha" it's not permitted to purchase any product from J&R or R&S produce, as he is a "hoi'tzei-neveilah-mitachas-yudoi".

The VAAD of 5 Towns is aware of it and they unjustly allow J&R & R&S to continue to deceive klal yisroel, they are a party to the crime.


KAJ & R' Gruber & % Town Vaad are also allowing this to go on & are a party to the crime.

Is all PAPAYA orlah?

All commercially grown Papaya are from trees that are less than 36 months (3 years), therefore they would be Orlah. Vadai-Orlah is ossur even out of eretz yisroel.
There are many or rather mojority of the poiskim say the brucha on papaya is not "ha'eitz" but a Ho'adamah. Orlah is only by a Ha'eitz.

Yellowtail stands in for mahi-mahi. Nile perch is labeled as shark, and tilapia may be the Meryl Streep of seafood, capable of playing almost any role.

Wisotksy tea makes some of their teas with a Bdatz Mehadrin standard, others without the Bdatz Mehadrin certification.

There are a few serious concerns, a) the identical tea can be with or without the Bdatz Mehadrin certification. b) The Bdatz Mehadrin logo is only on the outsided celophane wrapping, once that's off "you can't know what you have.

Both of the issues are unacceptable to the kosher consumer.

OK- "It's lean times, we need the income"- re: cholov stam (akum) Hashgochas

In a phone call I made to Reb Don Yoel Levy some time ago re: the cholov treif issue, Rabbi don Yoel Levy said that he spoke to Reb Zalman Nechemia Goldberg, Shlita & he asked him if it's only 1-2% incident can he rely on each bottle on safek? Reb zalman Nechemia replied "yes".



I Told Reb Don Yoel,  first of all, it's 4-8% but that's irrelevant as shishim is 1.66...% & Reb Don Yoel were you ever on a commercial farm, don't you see that it all goes into "holding tanks"? If there is no shishim in toto "which there defintly isn't" it's all Ossur without a safek. Reb Don Yoel said "OH!, I didn't realize that, Let me call you back soon. It's over 5 years and I'm still waiting for the call back.
BTW- The OK still certifies cholov treif as kosher because the procedured cows are not removed.

I discussed this matter with Rav Shmuel Wosner, Shlita and he said " It's cholov treifah". I spoke with Rav Eliyashev Shlita re: the issues He also said that he has gone through the issue thoroughly and concluded it's Cholov treif. He said further that one may not rely on the "Heter" that a Ruv in America wrote as it's not based on the correct facts nor on the Halacha, therefore it's not a psak only a heter that has no basis and should not be relied upon.

One of the recommended stores in Monsey was Rockland Kosher "Shoppers Haven". There has been some changes, as the one we relied upon is not there anymore.
The following is not another choice.
Monsey Kosher Plaza- Does not cut, grind or process Bais Yosef seperate, therefore it's not an option.
Ask for Alle "North American only" or Solomon's- If you're makpid on Bais Yosef, make sure it's marked Bais Yosef.

Frozen Spinach, should you use it? No!

Re: Frozen Spinach & infestation. The only time spinach is at a lowlevel of infestation is when the weather is cool & dry. That is usually in late March (in NJ). After that, it's just too late in the season. This year the NJ Spinach was picked the for the kosher market in May & June. The question is just how badly infested was the product.

From a practical point of view, it's not a clean product that one should consider using it, regardless of the name on the package.

Should one rely on the following Organization?

A recent Kashrus report was just released by the following group;

We don't know who they are, therefore we can't know the extent of their knowledge in kashrus and can't give any credence to their conclusions.
 From what we read of their report (between the lines), we were not impressed, each one should draw their own conclusions.

In Eretz Yisroel they do an annual opinion poll in the reliable kashrus organizations.
They ask a few thousand people, who's your first, second & third choice in deciding who's kashrus you'll buy. They publish those results. That's what these Monsey people should have done.

Shibolim Mini Matza "michshul".

The Shibolim Mini Matza "michshul" is actually matzah "ashirah", it's made with juice. There was a small sticker on the bottom indicating that it's only for those that may eat "ashirah". Shibolim is a Kenover Company.

It has hashgochas from some Israeli locals. It does not have anything pertaining to the issues of Chalah, Tevel, etc.
The issue with pesach machine matzos. Where were they during pesach? was it sold with the chometz? was it at a jewish distributor that doesn't sell his chometz.Therefore prior to using them ascertain all of the relevant facts.

For years, these inspections have been conducted before cattle cross the border, but the war raging among drug cartels in Mexico has prompted the U.S. to move some of its operations north. The change, instituted over the past year at three of the 11 ports along the U.S.-Mexico border, is drawing concern from some cattle raisers, who fear infections long eradicated in the U.S. but still showing up in Mexico will spread before inspection.
Federal authorities say the cartel violence necessitated the change, and they have implemented safeguards to ensure that rejected cattle reaching the U.S. won't prompt any outbreaks. "I think it's fair to say that the facilities located in Mexico presented a wide variety of risks and threats, and our employees did not feel safe going to those facilities every day," said U.S. Agriculture Department spokeswoman Lyndsay Cole.

Some "heimish" Bakeries in the New York Metro area use the same oven for Dairy & Parve.

Some Heimish Bakeries in the New York Metro area use the same oven for Dairy & Parve. The so called kashering in between (must first be cleaned from the cheese, etc) is not done by a mashgiach or hashgocha. It's suffecient just to "bren-ois-abisul".

Therefore others only use their chalas & request for their simchas to use only items baked in the chalah oven, etc.

Some of the issues are; The glazing, glazing pastry brush, the milchig trays, utensils, where do they wash the dairy utensils, etc.

Fish sticks?

Fish sticks are usually made from minced "pollock-fish". Pollock fish is infested with the anisakis worms. Minced is not ground, therefore no brand should be used. That include the brands that have a designated fryer.
BTW- The brand with the designated fryer was not a new fryer, but was kashered.
