The mouse stands alone

THE MOUSE STANDS ALONE

There is popular misconception that we can close our eyes to issues that fall under the category of "NIMBY" (Not in my backyard). The following allegory illustrates how what's not in your backyard may in reality be much closer than you think.

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package. "What food might that contain?" the mouse wondered. He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning: "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house! The chicken clucked and scratched her head and said "Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it's no consequence to me. I can't be bothered by it".

The mouse turned to the goat and told him, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house! The goat sympathized but said "I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers".

The mouse turned to the cow and said "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house! The cow said "Wow" Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose." So the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap alone.

That very night, a sound was heard throughout the house-like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey. The farmers wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see that it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap caught.

The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital, and she returned home with a fever. Everyone knows you treat a fever with chicken soup, so the farmer went to the farmyard to fetch the main ingredient for the fresh chicken soup. But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the goat. The farmer's wife's condition wasn't improving. So many people came to the house that the farmer slaughtered the cow to provide enough meat for all of them.

The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness."I warned them all-but they knew it was only my problem". Remember, each of us is a vital thread in another persons tapestry; So the next time you hear someone in our community is facing a problem and you think it doesn't concern you, remember-when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk. FOREWARNED IS FOREARMED!

Martin Niemoller said this:

First they came for the Jews, but I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew

Then they came for the communists,
but I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, but I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.

He said that because he was a galich who initially supported Hitler but in the end Hitler even turned on galochim and he was sent to Dachau to suffer with Yidden.

I guess there are people that know what this is referring to, but I don't, and I would assume that there are at least some like me -

What Hamodia article? I only see this one online

http://hamodia.com/2017/01/03/lakewoods-gop-majority-committee-elects-democratic-mayor/

In an interview with Hamodia, Mr. Coles said that goals for his term include working to decrease traffic, making zoning boards more responsive to the needs of different elements of the community, and “healing some of the divisions that have arisen in the town.”

“Lakewood is going to continue to grow, but it’s important that we make sure it’s being done in an efficient and responsible manner,” he said. “Creating affordable housing options is important and it’s something we will continue to work on, but we also have a responsibility to preserve some of the open spaces and protect the quality of life for those that live here already.”

Mr. Coles felt that addressing how growth in the Orthodox boom-town is handled would go a long way toward increasing harmony amidst the various elements of the community.

Local boards that govern zoning and other issues related to housing starts, he said, had been a source of “frustration” to some in Lakewood. Mr. Coles has met with leading board members in recent days and said that he hopes to “look at the way that business is done, and make sure that we are representing the people at the back of the meeting as much as those making noise up front.”c

When people complained to the rosh yeshiva Rav Malkiel about the vaad he said the "shtut" should form it's own vaad. It's high time that the lakewood klal together with Rabbonim form a new vaad with no special interests that will be made up with democratic elections through a bais din the way a vaad haair was meant to be. That is what a true vaad has it is. Where all segmants and areas of town have true representation.
Where vaad members can not abuse their power and threaten shuls from being built or throwing kids out of school.

Can someone explain the purpose of a Vaad?

The purpose of the Vaad is spelled out in detail on BMG's stationary.

To all divorcing parties in NJS courts r'l:

Who is your lawyer? Your adversary's is a sly horrific scam artist. They are paying happily for nothing! The countless motions are futile. Your attorney must disengage as much as possible. The motions do NOTHING for you or your adversary. They feed your respective attorney's insatiable appetite for money.

Allow me to restate the fact. New Jersey is an equitable distribution state in divorce. As such any bantering (unless there is someone stealing or diverting funds) will NOT influence the outcome. Assets from the marriage will be divided. Alimony and child support are based on set formulas.

DIVORCE DOES(N'T) HAPPEN! ........ It's either the result of irrational emotions or a sensible realization that the marriage is unsustainable. Please consider the two.
In method number one, there is irreparable damage to the emotional well-being of the divorcing couple and children. This is aside from the collosal waste of time, energy and money.
In method number two, dignity is preserved. Children learn a valuable lesson in conflict resolution. Emotional damage is mitigated. Time, energy and money are saved. If you must divorce, PLAN! I'm happy to assist with planning or any other area of conflict resolution. Make it a great day! Avrohom (718)473-6383
