A Takanah Wedding, with additional guidelines for eliminating certain customs like a Vort and simplifying Sheva Brachos, emphasizes modesty, affordability, and spiritual focus. These adjustments are often instituted by Rabbinic or communal leadership to create a framework for weddings that aligns with Torah values and avoids unnecessary financial or social pressure.
Enhanced Guidelines for a
Takanah Wedding:
- Eliminating the Vort:
- No Engagement Party: The traditional Vort
(engagement party) is omitted entirely, saving families from the expense
of hosting an additional event.
- Instead, a simple l’chaim may be held with
immediate family and close friends to celebrate the engagement privately.
- Simplified Sheva Brachot:
- Small Gatherings: Sheva Brachos meals during
the week are limited to intimate gatherings with close family and
friends.
- Home-Based Meals: Often hosted in private
homes rather than rented halls, with simple, home-cooked meals or modest
catering.
- Shabbos Sheva Brachos: A primary focus is
placed on celebrating Sheva Brachos during Shabbos, often incorporated
into the Shabbos meals. This allows for a more communal and spiritual
atmosphere without added expense.
- Avoidance of large-scale or extravagant Sheva
Brachos events.
- Core Features of the Wedding:
- Guest List: Limited to close family and
friends to keep the event meaningful and affordable.
- Catering: A simple menu is provided for the
wedding meal, with fewer courses or simpler options.
- Music: A small or one-piece band suffices,
ensuring a lively yet modest celebration.
- Purpose of These Changes:
- Financial Relief: Eliminating the Vort and
simplifying Sheva Brachos reduces financial burdens on families.
- Minimizing Pressure: Helps avoid social
competition over engagement parties or elaborate post-wedding
celebrations.
- Focus on Kedusha: Keeps attention on the
sanctity of the wedding day, the chuppah, and the mitzvah of building a
Jewish home.
By implementing these practices,
Takanah Weddings foster an atmosphere where the focus remains on Torah values
and the joy of the couple without unnecessary materialism. These changes ensure
that families can celebrate without undue stress while maintaining dignity and
joy.

Home cooked? Would Yudel eat there?
I agree with almost everything, however a Chasuna is supposed to be a Chashuve Seuda, not a simple menu.
No.
Also L’chayims are a unrequired expense. Can be eliminated
No mitzvah to have 7 or 8 Shevah Brachos - which involves a new expensive outfit for each and every shevah brachos.
Weddings do not have to be in a catering hall. It can be in the simchas hall of your shul. The meal can also be herring and kichlach.
A diamond ring is not toiradig you can get plated or non precious metal ear rings, bracelets necklaces etc.
Giving so
Ing in the Yuchi’s room is as American as can be. Nothing to do with yiddishkeit.
And the is plenty more.
Just like the past attempts (even when signed by big Rabbanim) it never was adopted & never will be adopted.
Especially if the signers themselves make huge weddings. The fact that he is a rebbe or rosh shisheevah is not excusable.
Tsk Tsk! As one of the Lakewood dayanim defended our gross excesses, pun intended, we are bnei Melochim who can indulge & Fress as much as we like. We aren't fazed either that some Brisker guy got up to shrei in the Michiganer state
A place inter heimishe shgooche because roiv of the clientele zeinen heimishe, was forced to change the features on their computerized order kiosks. There are greedy, geneivishe gourmands when ordering sandwiches would write in the notes that they want expensive hoisofos like avocado, instead of entering it in the place where it's added to the charge veil tze cost gelt. The Mexicans in the kitchen are too stupid or too lazy to do anything about it except supply it for no charge, so the ramoyim got the hoisofos for free. WIth the elimination of the notes feature, everyone has to lide that truly free options that don't cost anything can't be requested anymore.

One of the Pesach Fresser hotels has on its celebrity lineup (with free stay) to attract paying guests - Avi Schnall. No further comment required!
The professional Free Fresser never has a shot on paysach (they have hashgachas which is against FF tenets)
I didn’t know that KCL hired Yechezkel Auerbach as Administrative Coordinator
