Even if the psak in this particular case is open to legitimate skepticism, I recall seeing on this blog a comment that the trigger for the campaign was not this case, but revenge for the Beis Din's having ruled against a supporter of R' Elya Ber in a different case. Isn't that the Weissberg case, where he won against a big E/B supporter.
