Are you sure that in China they are as infested as in the US. China is notorious for using many chemicals banned in the US. They may actually use stuff which kills bugs, it may kill people too, they are not too concerned about that. They are only concerned about getting caught.

Peeling does NOT work. The bugs run onto the fruit while your peeling it.
Yep, you have to watch out for grooves in the peeled strawberry, and give it a good wash after peeling before eating.
