“A New Proposal for Lakewood to Address Our Community’s Chinuch Needs” NOTE: Local moisdois must be supported before out of Town Tzedokas

A Proposal to Address Our Community’s Chinuch Needs

Dear Residents of Lakewood,

As we navigate the high school admissions season, many families in our community face stress and heartache. To address these challenges, I propose establishing a community elementary school with boys’ and girls’ divisions.

This school would offer a high-quality Frum Chinuch and be open to all Lakewood families, regardless of background. The schools’ assets would belong to the community, ensuring their long-term benefit as a communal moisud.

Addressing the Stigma
One concern is the stigma that might deter families from sending their children to a community school. To combat this, I propose a tuition-free model, eliminating financial barriers and making the school a respected, attractive option. The budget would rely on voluntary contributions, government grants, and community support, allowing families to choose based on the school’s merits rather than necessity.

The Vision

  1. Community-Owned: Open to all, with governance and assets owned by the tzibbur.
  2. Tuition-Free: Removing financial strain and reducing stigma while maintaining high educational standards.

This model can address both educational and financial challenges, ensuring every Jewish child in Lakewood has access to quality Yiddishe education.

Your Feedback Is Essential
I welcome your insights and questions to shape this initiative. Together, may we raise the next generation of Klal Yisroel with strength and wisdom.

Respectfully,
Shaya Bassman
Lakewood, N.J.

If the other Bassman will cough up all the money needed to run a school not to mention a community school then all will be great in Lakewood and all other school systems will follow suit.
Maybe the Marines can help out but we don’t do marines so that’s out.
